Oversight Committee Continues Work to Identify Obama Administration's Job Killing Red Tape

As part of its AmericanJobCreators.com effort to spotlight the impact of government red tape on workers and companies, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has contacted nearly 200 organizations seeking their insight on regulations that hurt job creation.

In a letter sent May 16, Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, Stimulus Oversight and Government Spending Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked for assistance in identifying additional existing and proposed regulations that continued to negatively impact job growth in their members' industries. They also sought examples of rules and regulations where it is believed a federal agency did not fully and effectively comply with the rulemaking process.

"Over the past fifteen months, the Committee has received valuable information from job creators and business organizations…that have informed efforts to highlight burdensome regulations," Issa and Jordan wrote. "Some relief from regulatory burdens has been achieved, but the economy continues to struggle as job growth has slowed and small businesses continue to be hesitant to hire. It is clear more must be done," they added.

The Committee's AmericanJobCreators.com has received input from hundreds of businesses and workers around the country and has contributed to the work of seven full committee hearings, nearly 20 subcommittee hearings and additional ongoing regulatory examinations.
