States Rights and Immigration Law

Statement

President Barack Obama and his administration are rejecting the rights of individual states to pass laws cracking down on criminal illegal immigration.

The Obama Administration has not only failed to secure the border or enforce existing immigration laws, now they want to sue states like Oklahoma and Arizona who pass their own immigration laws.

Let me be clear -- Federal resources should be used to enforce immigration laws, not to punish states for doing the job the Obama Administration refuses to do. If the Federal government did its job and enforced the immigration laws on the books, states wouldn't be forced to take matters into their own hands.

Last week I cast a vote on the House floor to prevent the Federal Government from being able to sue states for doing the job President Obama simply has failed to do.
