Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) released the following statement on the passage of the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012 (H.R. 4133), which will reaffirms the United States' commitment to Israel:
"I am proud to have co-sponsored and voted for the United States--Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act. Israel is our closest and most important ally in the Middle East and with the passage of this legislation we are reaffirming and building upon America's defense cooperation and security support for Israel. Israel has the right to defend herself, and as she continues to face threats from countries like Iran, it is more important than ever for the United States to stand with Israel. I will continue to press for a strong, long-lasting relationship with Israel."
Congressman Crowley is a seven-term representative from the 7th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He serves as chief deputy whip in the Democratic leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.
