U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-7) today voted for H.R. 4133, the U.S.- Israel Enhanced Security Act. As a cosponsor of the legislation, Lance said the measure seeks to strengthen security cooperation between the United States and Israel as they face increasing threats from nation's like Iran.

The bill won House approval 411-2.

"With the growing threat of a nuclear Iran, few international issues are more important than a strong U.S.-Israel relationship," said Lance. "As American and Israeli citizens are confronted with the mutual threat of our safety and security, Congress and the President must work in a bipartisan fashion and do what is necessary to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon."

As co-chairman of the House Republican Israel Caucus, Congressman Lance has supported key legislation and initiatives important to the U.S. - Israel relationship.

For his part, Lance is part of a bipartisan group of U.S. House and Senate members supporting resolutions (H.Res. 568 and S.Res. 380) both affirm that it is U.S. Policy to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability and opposing any policies that seek to contain a nuclear-capable Iran.

Additionally, Lance has long called for tougher financial sanctions against Iran including those targeting Iran's Central Bank and foreign entities who assist Iran in the development of their nuclear weapons program.
