Today, Congressman Silvestre Reyes joined the local online effort to help El Pasoans fight hunger by urging them to participate in an online competition on Facebook and urging all of them to Orange Out the City on Friday, April 27, 2012.
"El Pasoans have the opportunity to help our food bank provide thousands of people who have fallen on hard times with basic food supplies and meals for our children," said Congressman Silvestre Reyes. "No child should ever have to go hungry and if we have the opportunity to provide warm meals to thousands with just the click of a button, then we need to get every single person we know to vote for El Paso on Facebook and help our city fight hunger."
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, formerly the West Texas Food Bank and El Paso's only Food Bank, has a chance to win $1,000,000 or $50,000 through the Wal-Mart Fighting Hunger Together competition. The contest ends April 30; Wal-Mart selected 200 Food Banks across the country to compete for the donations and the city with the most votes will win the million dollars.
