On Thursday, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Fort Leavenworth with my colleagues from the House, Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler from Missouri, who serves on the Armed Services Committee and Congressman Kevin Yoder from Kansas' Third District, who serves on the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee. During the visit to Fort Leavenworth we took a tour of the base and were briefed on the latest happenings on post.
Fort Leavenworth is the third oldest continually operating military base in the nation, and an essential part of Kansas' military heritage and America's national security efforts. Serving Fort Leavenworth and ensuring the brave men and women stationed there have all the tools necessary to complete their mission is a team effort, which is why I was so pleased to be joined on post by Congresswoman Hartzler and Congressman Yoder. Congresswoman Hartzler's experience and strong voice on the Armed Services Committee and Congressman Yoder's important position on the Military Construction and Veterans Appropriations Subcommittee are invaluable assets to the region and to Fort Leavenworth. It was a pleasure being back at Fort Leavenworth this week, and an honor and privilege to host my colleagues in the Second District. I look forward to continuing to work with Congresswoman Hartzler, Congressman Yoder and our military leaders in Kansas to ensure the long term success and viability of Fort Leavenworth.
