I wanted you to be among the first to see my new TV ad "Can't Push Us Around", which will start airing across Ohio later today!
This ad features some of my Marine buddies from Iraq, my Marine Drill Instructor from Parris Island, and one of my heroes who stormed the beach at Normandy during World War II.
Their message for the voters of Ohio and the Washington political establishment is simple: When I go to Washington, I won't be pushed around!
And like our first ad "Boots", this message is completely positive.
Our first ad told the story of how my blue collar roots from union laborer grandparents helped shape my focus on strengthening the middle class, and how my Marine Corps boots helped me develop the fiercely strong backbone needed to take on Washington.
Our new ad continues to tell the story of what it means to walk in these boots, from training at Marine boot camp at Parris Island to serving alongside dedicated young Americans who were willing to give it all for the nation they love and for the freedom we have because of brave generations that sacrificed before us.
Their service and sacrifice stands in stark contrast to the cynicism of the Washington establishment. Some in the establishment have said they don't even think these young people know the meaning of the word "service". The entrenched politicians, political bosses, powerful lobbyists and media elite will do or say anything to thwart new ideas or distract us from problems like out-of-control federal spending, irresponsible Wall Street bailouts and Washington politicians borrowing over a trillion dollars from China.
I need you to lace up your boots and stand with me to say it's time to shake things up in Washington. And as I've said to countless Ohioans from every walk of life, the only way to change Washington is to change the people we send there.
When I get to Washington, these folks are not going to push me around. Not Republican bosses who want to spend too much, not Democrat bosses who oppose American energy independence, not the lobbyists who want to keep our punitive tax code the same, and not the media elite who spread cynicism about any new idea.
Our opponent and his deep-pocketed special interest friends won't push me around either with their negative ads and pathetic attacks. They represent the past, we represent the future, and there are many more Marines and other veterans ready to rally to our defense as the desperate attacks continue to fly.
We've set a goal of raising $184,656 by next Tuesday, May 8. Last week my campaign manager Ray Yonkura emailed about this goal and thanks to your overwhelming response, we're approaching halfway there!
If you'd be willing to donate $50, $100, $250, $500 or even $1,000 to tell the establishment that they Can't Push Us Around, it will go a long way to keep this ad running on televisions throughout Ohio.
If you can't afford any of the amounts above, I appreciate whatever you can give and promise that it will be put to good use and right away.
Just click here or above to watch the new ad and make a donation to keep it on the air.
I have to get running now, so take care and thanks as always for charging alongside of us. Time to save our country.
