Representative Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) issued the following statement today regarding the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee's (OGR) probe into the Office of the Inspector General's (OIG) report that the Public Buildings Service, part of the General Services Administration, spent more than $820,000 on a 2010 conference in Las Vegas.
"I commend Chairman Issa for pressing forward with an investigation, by the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee. This is a blatant misuse of taxpayer dollars by a branch of the General Services Administration.
"The situation is made worse because this administration has known about the spending scandal for eleven months and has done nothing to hold anyone responsible. Only this week, after the information was made public, did the administration begin to hold them accountable.
"How does the administration even suggest raising taxes on hard working Americans while there is this waste and abuse of tax dollars?"
