Representative Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) received the Guardian of Senior Right's Award from the 60 Plus Association. This award is presented to Democratic and Republican Members of Congress based on their "senior friendly" voting, specifically votes taken to preserve Social Security and Medicare.
"It is an honor to receive the Guardian of Senior Right's Award from the 60 Plus Association. I have been involved in health care for most of my professional life as a nurse and later as a health care attorney. I also have a 90-year-old-mother who depends on Medicare for her health care coverage, so I understand the importance of Medicare to seniors in Upstate New York. It is critical that we take the necessary steps to preserve and protect Social Security and Medicare for future generations of Americans," said Buerkle.
Founded in 1992, the 60 Plus Association is a non-partisan seniors advocacy group, which represents 7 million seniors nationwide.
