Dear Friends,
Last week, the House unanimously passed the DATA Act (H.R. 2146) -- legislation that makes government more accountable and open to the taxpayers. The DATA Act includes reforms to make it easier for the American people to know where their tax dollars are being spent, and for lawmakers to cut spending and create a better environment for job growth.
In a recent article entitled, "House Votes to Prevent GSA-Like Spending" the Washington Post describes the DATA Act:
"The bipartisan measure would establish new government-wide financial reporting standards by requiring federal agencies to report all spending information to a centralized Web site. It also would require all government contractors, subcontractors and grant recipients to report how they spend federal dollars."

Representative Ed Royce
