DeMint Statement on Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act

Statement

Date: April 26, 2012
Issues: Women

Today, U.S. Senator DeMint (R-South Carolina), made the following statement on S. 1925, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act:

"Violence against women is intolerable and victims deserve help, and these needs are best met at the state and local level as the Supreme Court has ruled that domestic violence should not be regulated from Washington. This well-intentioned bill goes beyond constitutional limits, forces states to surrender their ability to offer help in specialized, individual ways and fails to stop duplication and inefficiencies at federal agencies."
