Statement

Today, on Equal Pay Day, Congressman Steve Rothman (NJ-9) released the following statement:

In America, women still only earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Our country shouldn't be a place where my daughter receives less pay for equal work just because she's a woman. That inequality is unacceptable.
Despite Republican objections, the first bill President Obama signed into law was the historic Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that expanded legal rights for women. House Republicans also stubbornly continue to fight against the enactment of the Paycheck Fairness Act which will help bridge the wage gap between men and women.

Republicans must stop standing in the way of progress for women and families.
