Last week I was proud and honored to host the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki at the Ft. Dix Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL). During his visit, I was able to personally show the Secretary what resources are available to our area veterans and how the veterans' obtain access to care at this veterans' health care hub in Southern New Jersey.
The Joint Base's CBOC has made great strides in improving medical care for veterans and their families and I was honored to show this to Sec. Shinseki. This tour also afforded me the opportunity to show the Secretary that there is still so much to be done, especially in the area of improving access to health care for South Jersey Veterans. The JB-MDL CBOC can be very difficult for our veterans to access because of its location on a large active military base.
Much of the tour was spent ensuring the Secretary understood my priority to make access to healthcare for our South Jersey veterans less stressful and more accessible. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Secretary Shinseki in our shared commitment to serving our nation's heroes.
