Gov. Bev Perdue today issued the following statement regarding action by the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee:

"Today's committee action is a step in the right direction. I look forward to working with the House and Senate to craft a resolution that benefits the people of eastern North Carolina. The ferry tax is an unnecessary and discriminatory burden on the working families who depend on the ferries every day."
