Gov. Jay Nixon today signed the House Bill 2014, the Supplemental Budget for Fiscal Year 2012. Among other provisions, HB 2014 provides $31 million in General Revenue for public education to make up for shortfalls in riverboat gaming and tobacco funding and ensure that schools receive the resources they are expecting to receive for the remainder of the current school year.
"This Supplemental Budget ensures that we can sustain the support our public schools need," Gov. Nixon said. "I appreciate the work of the General Assembly to get this bill to my desk, and I look forward to continuing to work with legislators in a bipartisan way during the final weeks of the session to pass legislation to help create jobs and move our economy forward."
