On March 30, we announced the commencement of the 112th Congress Ways and Means Committee Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) process and invited Members to introduce temporary miscellaneous tariff bills by Monday, April 30, 2012, for consideration for inclusion in the MTB legislation. Due to the overwhelming Member interest in participating in our process, we would like to inform Members that they will meet our April 30 deadline if their draft bills are submitted to Legislative Counsel by 3:00 p.m. on April 30. For Members who meet this deadline but will be unable to introduce their bills because the House is not in session on April 30: when draft bills are received back from Legislative Counsel, Members should introduce bills at the first opportunity and submit their bills, Bills Description Forms, and Preliminary Disclosure Forms on the Ways and Means Committee online MTB submission system within three (3) days of introduction.

As a reminder, to be included in the MTB, a duty suspension or reduction generally must (1) be non-controversial, (2) cost under $500,000 per year, and (3) be administrable. Further details regarding specific parameters for bills to be included in the MTB can be found on the Ways and Means Committee MTB website.
