Like you, I was outraged to learn of the excessive, wasteful and impermissible spending by some federal employees at a conference held in Las Vegas in 2010. Oversight hearings are underway this week in Congress. The chief of the General Services Administration has resigned, two of her deputies have been fired, and others have been suspended. An Inspector General's report concludes the agency "followed neither federal procurement laws not its own policy on conference spending." As public servants, we all have a duty to be careful stewards of taxpayer dollars. I am following the investigations closely and I am constantly working to ferret out government waste, fraud and abuse.
