Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today urging the House and Senate conferees on the transportation bill to come together swiftly, in a spirit of bipartisanship, to put Americans back to work and invest in our infrastructure to rebuild America:
"Too much time has already been wasted with the Republican "my way or no highway' agenda that has brought essential transportation projects across the country to a screeching halt. This has created enormous uncertainty for American workers, businesses, commuters, and state and local governments.
"The Senate has worked in a bipartisan way to craft two-year legislation that creates or saves more than two million jobs and strengthens our economy.
"As conferees begin their work, I urge them to do so swiftly and in the spirit of bipartisanship. We must come together this year in agreement for legislation that will put people to work, invest in road, rail, transit, and highway construction, and rebuild America."
