April Fool's Day Does Not Last For Entire Presidential Term

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) issued the following statement following President Obama's press conference Tuesday where the President blamed oil market speculators on helping drive up the price of crude oil and gasoline:

"Someone should remind the President that April Fool's Day lasts for 24 hours not a whole month or an entire Presidential term. Yesterday's campaign conference was another attempt by the President to mislead Americans regarding his energy policy. Wall Street and Main Street are not to blame for high gas prices; the President and his policies are. Speculation is the market's direct response to President Obama slow-walking permits in the Gulf, blocking the Keystone Pipeline, and threatening tax increases on energy producers. Mr. President, we've had enough of your manipulation, regulation, and restriction. If you want to really reduce the pain at the pump -- allow us to utilize America's natural resources and produce domestic energy."
