Reacting to news of a widening scandal at the General Services Administration (GSA), which spent more than $1 million to host two junkets in Las Vegas and Palm Springs for employees and interns, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) issued the following statement:
"This was an outrageous waste of taxpayers' money. It reminds me of 'Dumb and Dumber.' It's bad enough to have government employees acting so irresponsibly. Now GSA is teaching interns how to game the system, too. There should be a thorough investigation of this fiasco, and the bureaucrats in charge should be held accountable. We need to send a strong signal: This type of wasteful spending will not be tolerated under any circumstances."
