"New Low At The UN", With Passage Of Weak Security Council Resolution On Syria, Says Ros-Lehtinen

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement today regarding passage of a resolution at the UN Security Council regarding the ongoing brutal crackdown in Syria by the Assad regime.

Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

"The United Nations appears to have reached a new low by placing the Assad regime squarely in the driver's seat, and preserving Russia's ability to continue to arm the Syrian regime.

"Instead of doing what is required--increasing the full scope of sanctions against the Syrian regime--this resolution seems doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. The people of Syria deserve more and need more in order to stop the bloodshed spearheaded by the Assad regime"
