Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after cosponsoring the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Modernization Act (H.R. 4051):

"Post-9/11 veterans are struggling with an unemployment rate of over 12 percent -- much higher than the national average. These veterans are highly trained, skilled and dependable, and it is a disservice to them and our country if we do not help them successfully transition into the civilian workforce. That's why I am cosponsoring the TAP Modernization Act."

H.R. 4051 would direct the U.S. Department of Labor to provide additional TAP classes to veterans in local communities for three years as part of a pilot program in states with the highest levels of unemployment among veterans. Currently, TAP is offered at select military installations and provides comprehensive, three-day informational workshops to transitioning servicemembers.
