Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted for H.R. 4089, the Sportsmen's Heritage Act of 2012. Supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and over 35 additional conservation groups, the Sportsmen's Heritage Act returns the freedom to hunt and fish on America's public lands back to the American people.
"As a member of the NRA, I fully believe that Americans should be able to hunt and fish recreationally free from the overreach of government bureaucrats. From the founding of our nation to the settling of the West, the right of citizens to hunt and fish on wild land has been a hallmark of our American identity. I am pleased to support the Sportsmen's Heritage Act to ensure Americans continue to have access to our majestic wild lands," Fleischmann said.
In addition to removing restrictions on hunting and fishing on public lands, the Sportsmen's Heritage Act also prevents the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from barring the use of certain types of traditional ammunition.
