Today, Congressman Tim Walz toured the Crenlo manufacturing plant in Rochester to promote his bipartisan, all-American energy vision that will work to help southern Minnesota grow and prosper.

"We need to take control of our energy future with an all-of-the-above approach to developing new energy sources. Continuing to send our money to countries overseas that hate us just doesn't make any sense. They will hate us for free," said Walz. "With entrepreneurship and a can-do American spirit, we can reduce our reliance on foreign oil and create good-paying, all-American energy jobs right here in southern Minnesota."

"It would appear Representative Walz's bipartisan energy bill will put America on a path towards energy independence and could create jobs manufacturing products to support clean energy solutions right here in Rochester," said Greg Wetzel, General Manager, Enclosures at Crenlo.

The vision behind Representative Walz's bipartisan energy bill is simple:

1. The big oil companies who are granted the privilege to conduct new offshore oil drilling must take responsibility for helping the country develop new, clean, reliable, and affordable American energy sources to power our county.

2. Reinvest the royalty payments made by oil companies for new offshore oil drilling into our national strategic priorities, including:

o Develop and deploy next generation clean American energy sources that create jobs and prosperity right here in southern Minnesota.

o Rebuild our economic infrastructure such as roads and bridges right here in southern Minnesota.

In business for over 50 years, Crenlo began by manufacturing cabs for heavy-duty equipment like Caterpillar and John Deere. In 1975, the company grew and started a new division that specializes in constructing heavy-duty racks, cabinets, and electronic enclosures for use in data centers.

In recent years, Crenlo commenced manufacturing in clean energy technology and began supplying the solar panel industry with cases to house electrical wires and inverters for solar panels.

Businesses like Crenlo could see tangible benefits from Representative Walz's bipartisan energy bill that would help them grow and prosper.
