Dr. Dan Benishek (MI-01) today voted in support of the Small Business Tax Cut Act of 2012.

"Everywhere I travel in Michigan's First Congressional District, I am continually reminded of the uncertainty that exists during our current economic situation," said Dr. Benishek. "Business owners tell me they can't hire more workers or boost production because they need to account for the financial impact of the President's health care law or the Environmental Protection Agency's burdensome regulations."

The Small Business Tax Cut is available to all small businesses with fewer than 500 employees. The tax cut is not specific to one particular agency and instead focuses on the fact that America's small businesses are in need of economic certainty before they can once again prosper. The Joint Committee on Taxation states that this bill will reduce taxes on small businesses by $45.9 billion over 10 years.

"Jobs are of utmost importance right now, and I am committed to helping businesses in Northern Michigan grow so that we can move toward a path of prosperity once again," added Dr. Benishek.

The bill was passed in the House, by a margin 235-173.
