Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Brian Bilbray (CA-50) and local small businesses have issued the following statements after the passage of H.R. 9, the Small Business Tax Cut, a bill to reduce the federal tax rate of small businesses from 35 percent to 20 percent:

"With nearly one in 10 San Diego residents out of work, Washington needs to support businesses that create jobs. According to the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, 95 percent of our businesses are classified as small businesses. The 20 percent federal tax cut that this bill allows for will give small business owners the opportunity to keep more of their income to invest in their business and hire more employees." - Congressman Brian Bilbray

"H.R. 9 is a step forward that will help our region's small businesses continue to build our economy, strengthen their business and put more San Diegans back to work. The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce applauds the efforts of congress to ensure that small businesses receive assistance in a critical time." - Debra Rosen, President and CEO, San Diego North Chamber of Commerce
