U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today released the following statement after state education reform legislation was signed into law by Gov. Bobby Jindal:
"With the Governor's signature today, the next significant phase of education reform will begin. Superintendent John White has a big job ahead of him in implementing these reforms. But I remain hopeful that -- with the advice and support of a diverse group of education reformers from across our state -- he can get the job done and done well. Together, we must work hard and smart to reach the only goal worth this fight -- and that is accelerated academic achievement for all students and the chance to finally close the well-documented achievement gap in Louisiana."
