Congressman Peter J. Roskam (R-IL), Chief Deputy Majority Whip, released the following statement in response to the April 12 North Korean missile launch:
"The North Korean government has once again demonstrated that it maintains a clear posture of antagonism. Flying in the face of an unequivocal commitment to not pursue any such missile launch in exchange for food aid, the new North Korean leadership has shown we can ill-afford to trust its assurances, and its aggressiveness is increasingly alarming when coupled with its nuclear capability. This event and the continuing threat of another North Korean nuclear test reminds us of the importance of our deep and enduring alliance with the Republic of Korea. This North Korean hostility needs to be met with condemnation and direct pressure from the United States and our allies."
