Education is the most important issue in the economic mobility of America's citizens. I am living proof and it is the key to America's future prosperity.
Education in America will only improve if we leave the decision-making at the local level. Decisions regarding a child's education must come from parents in consultation with teachers and principals, not the federal government.
We can improve education in America by:
Eliminating the Department of Education,
Providing educational scholarships to attract the best and brightest teachers,
particularly in the areas of math and science,
Permitting local school districts to promote based on merit and performance, not tenure,
Encouraging school choice and vouchers.
American students can no longer fall behind their international peers, but we can only improve the system by allowing parents to determine the best interest of their children, not Washington.
We need to incentivize those who enter the teaching profession to do what they do best--teach our children--not focus on bureaucratic mandates from the government.
