Griffin Co-Sponsors the Protect VA Health Care Act

Press Release

Date: April 3, 2012
Location: Little Rock, AR

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after co-sponsoring the Protect VA Health Care Act (H.R. 3895):

"I am proud to co-sponsor the Protect VA Health Care Act, which will ensure that all the services Arkansas veterans rely on will be protected from indiscriminate cuts. While we must continue to look for ways to reduce federal spending and restore genuine accountability to government, we cannot abandon those who have sacrificed so much in defense of our nation."

The Protect VA Health Care Act, which was introduced by House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Chairman Jeff Miller (FL-01), would clarify that all veterans programs are exempt from sequestration -- the automatic spending reductions scheduled to take effect in 2013 as part of the Budget Control Act. It is supported by the American Legion, the Independent Budget for Veterans, the Fleet Reserve Association, the National Association for Uniformed Services and the Association of the U.S. Navy.
