"I want to congratulate Express Scripts on the approval of their $29.1 billion acquisition of Medco by the Federal Trade Commission. This ambitious deal, which I strongly supported, closed today. It will create the nation's largest pharmacy benefits manager, serving more than 100 million Americans. The new enlarged Express Scripts headquarters team will continue to be located in the heart of my congressional district, next to the UM -- St. Louis campus.

This deal means good American jobs, big savings for taxpayers and better healthcare outcomes for patients. The powerful positive impact will be enormous for our entire region. This acquisition also creates an unprecedented opportunity for Express Scripts to engage and lift up our entire community by making true diversity and equal opportunity in future construction, procurement, professional services and vendors a corporate-wide priority."
