Roskam Statement on March Jobs Report

Statement

Date: April 6, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (IL-06) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor announced the national unemployment rate is 8.2%.

"On Good Friday, I'm pleased to see that thousands of families with new jobs have one more reason to celebrate, but millions still populate the unemployment lines, and millions more have given up entirely.

With the progress of our economy nowhere near where it should be, we can no longer afford this Administration's broken promises and failed policies of over-regulating and raising taxes on job creators. More than three years have passed since the 'stimulus' became law and national unemployment is still over 8 percent - higher than the Administration promised it would ever get.

"House Republicans are fighting against these failed economic policies and working to create jobs and boost the economy. Yesterday we saw the Leader Cantor's JOBS Act get signed into law to help new businesses and start ups grow, innovate, and create jobs. This is the type of initiative that will ensure Washington stops hurting and starts helping America's job creators."
