Last night the House voted on President Obama's FY2013 budget proposal. His budget would spend $3.8 trillion in spending for FY2013 and $47 trillion in spending over the next ten years. That's an average of $4.7 trillion per year. The CBO projects the deficits over the 2013-2022 period would total $6.4 trillion.
With numbers like that, it's not a surprise that the president's budget wasn't a big hit with either party when it was proposed. However, what was a surprise was what happened last night when the House voted on it.
It failed by a vote of 414-0. That's right. Zero House members voted for the president's budget proposal even members from his own party.
The president keeps saying he wants to unite both parties and at least it seems as though he has finally found a way to do so -- we are all united against his wasteful spending ways.
