U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today voted in favor of the bipartisan Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. This bill will remove barriers to job creation, particularly by making it easier for small businesses to access investor capital. The bill passed the House of Representatives earlier this month by a vote of 390 to 23. Last week, the U.S. Senate amended the bill and passed it with a bipartisan vote of 73 to 26.
"Removing unnecessary regulations on businesses that prevent job growth is one of the easiest ways we can boost our economy and get western Pennsylvanians back to work," Congressman Altmire said. "Government bureaucracies can get in the way of a business's ability to expand, and today Congress acted, in a bipartisan manner, to address the concerns of businesses across the country, particularly small businesses. I will continue to look for ways that Congress can set aside partisanship and produce results for the millions of Americans still out of work."
The JOBS Act received final passage today by a vote of 380 to 41. The bill now heads to the president for his signature.
