Representative Steve Southerland, II joined a coalition of Florida government officials and community leaders at Tallahassee Regional Airport today to commemorate the maiden nonstop flight between Tallahassee and Washington's Reagan National Airport. Following a ribbon cutting ceremony, Southerland boarded the U.S. Airways-operated CRJ200 aircraft for his commute back to Washington, D.C.
"I am proud to have had this opportunity to join an accomplished coalition of Florida government leaders and airport officials to celebrate the inaugural nonstop flight between Tallahassee and Washington's Reagan National Airport," Southerland said. "By connecting Florida's capital city with our nation's capital city, Tallahassee and the Big Bend region can look forward to the prospects of enhanced economic growth, new jobs, and expanded tourist activity. It was a pleasure working with Governor Scott, Mayor Marks, and the other state and local officials who helped make this day a reality, and I remain committed to doing all I can to strengthen communities in Leon County and the surrounding area."
