Statement: Congresswoman Speier on House Passage of Extreme, Job Killing Republican Budget

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-San Mateo/San Francisco) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Republican FY2013 Budget Resolution:

"The American middle class and good American jobs were the losers in the passage of the misguided budget resolution. The big winners were oil companies who get $4 billion annually in taxpayer subsidies, corporations that get tax deductions for shipping jobs overseas and millionaires who get a $150,000 tax cut.

"This budget sacrifices the values that define our country in order to reward special interests. Republicans are out of touch if they think that more unemployment, more expensive health care, less affordable college tuition, and less local police are what we need."
