U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today announced support for the Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority. The grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. It will be used to help address specific operations and safety related needs in the Grand Traverse fire department.
Senator Stabenow said, "Our firefighters deserve the best resources available to perform their duties safely. Every day they put their lives on the line, and this grant will help our brave first responders to safely continue protecting the Grand Traverse community."
"Last August, I had the privilege of visiting the brand new fire station for the Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority," Sen. Levin said. "I saw firsthand the commitment and dedication of these firefighters to their community. This federal grant will help them continue their vital mission."
The Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority will receive $36,000.
