Congressman John Fleming, M.D. (LA-4) released the following statement in response to remarks about energy that President Obama made Wednesday in Boulder City, Nevada:

"Yesterday President Obama was in Nevada busy diverting attention about his real energy policies and suggesting his greenjobs initiative meets the laugh test. Mr. Obama expressed disdain foranyone who would call his green jobs boondoggle "phony.' Well, I've called it phony, and frankly, nothing defines phony quite as well as the president's claim that his green energy polices are working as advertised.

"Webster's dictionary defines phony as making a false show. Yesterday President Obama stood before a solar power plant that received $40 million American tax dollars, and he bragged about how the project "is creating jobs.' We've since learned that it's actually created 10, that's right, only TEN full-time, permanent jobs according to CNN press reports, with the potential for a whopping FIVE more. That's about $2.6 million per job.

"Mr. President: What's not phony about that?"

Dr. John Fleming is Chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs and is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. He is a physician and small businessowner and represents the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana.
