On Thursday, Congressman Tim Huelskamp issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office announced that as many as 20 million Americans could lose their employer-based health insurance as a result of the President's new health care law. The report stated that an additional 3 million to 5 million persons each year from 2019 to 2022 would lose their employer-based coverage.
"Week after week, month after month we learn of more harmful side effects of the President's health care law, but the fact that as many as 20 million people could lose their employer-based health insurance ranks toward the top," Congressman Huelskamp said. "Just add this to the list of President Obama's broken health care promises. There are things to be fixed with America's health care system, but forcing more people on to government-controlled health insurance is not the answer. As much as President Obama tried to convince Americans otherwise, his signature legislative 'accomplishment' will drive millions of Americans away from their current insurance."
Congressman Huelskamp is a lead cosponsor of The State Health Flexibility Act which, among other things, would fully repeal ObamaCare.
The Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation issued the report as part of its updated budget projections for 2012 to 2022.
