U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN) made the following statement today on the occasion of the second anniversary of the signing of Obamacare into law:
"I am as committed today as I was when Obamacare was signed into law to repealing this incredibly expensive, constitutionally dubious, and misguided reform package.
"Our legislative efforts to roll back Obamacare are working in tandem with the efforts that Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller and others are advancing in the courts.
"In January 2010, I asked Attorney General Zoeller to initiate a review of the Obama-backed health care reform package then making its way through Congress. His thorough and insightful analysis raised serious constitutional questions about the bill. On the strength of this review, he included Indiana among the handful of states to immediately file a challenge in Federal court against the bill.
"Next week, the U.S. Supreme Court will take up the case against Obamacare. I have joined a series of amicus briefs submitted to the Supreme Court asserting that Obamacare is unconstitutional and must be struck down.
"We must succeed in overturning ObamaCare, either legislatively or judicially. The economic vitality of our country, as well as the quality of health care provided to Americans is at stake."
