Location: Austin, TX

Texas cities continue to lead the way in job growth, according to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Five Texas cities rank among the top six cities in the nation for highest rates of job growth between 2004 and 2011.

"Texas continues to be a national example for job creation thanks to our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulatory environment, fair legal system and skilled workforce," Gov. Perry said. "Our commitment to these priorities has helped make Texas the best place to live, work and raise a family."

Austin takes the top spot followed by Houston, and San Antonio, Fort Worth and Dallas also made the top six. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its Metropolitan Employment and Unemployment Summary monthly based on data from the Current Employment Statistics Program, which surveys businesses and government agencies with workers on nonfarm payrolls.
