We explored a variety of energy alternatives; solar, wind, biomass and other sources, as well as traditional sources like coal, nuclear and natural gas. Inexpensive and plentiful energy is vital to job retention and growth. I have worked to pass legislation to help companies power their operation with an on-site biomass renewable energy facility that would produce energy from trash. We must encourage this kind of innovation. I have also led the effort to consider modular nuclear reactors like those used on military submarines and ships. Some of these reactors use Thorium, a rare earth mineral which is plentiful in Missouri. While we need to expand our energy portfolio, we must keep prices as low as possible; you should not go broke paying your energy bill.

I also serve on the Special Standing Committee on Renewable Energy. We work on legislation to enhance our ability to generate the energy we need to power our homes and businesses through renewable sources. These new technologies must not only be ecologically responsible, but financially sustainable.ass legislation to help companies power their operation with an on-site biomass renewable energy facility that would produce energy from trash.
