There is nothing more important than your ability to get and keep a good paying job with benefits. As Chairman of the International Trade & Job Creation Committee, I wrote the Manufacturing Jobs Act encouraging Ford to make a $1.1 billion investment in Missouri. The result is the existing 3,800 jobs were saved and 1,600 new jobs will be created. In addition, thousands more jobs will be created and saved in our area and across Missouri with the auto industry suppliers and businesses that depend on these operations. Recently, General Motors announced it will begin production of the Chevrolet Colorado creating or retaining over 1,660 jobs in part due to the Manufacturing Jobs Act. This means an investment of $380 million in their Wentzville Assembly Plant. That level of these commitments means a generation of job security for thousands of families.

I supported creation of the Quality Jobs Act and I passed the Jobs Retention Act to protect jobs in Missouri from being poached by Kansas. I sponsored legislation to restore the protection of workers from lawsuits by co-workers, you should not be afraid of being sued just for going to work. You should be protected under Workers Compensation Laws the same as businesses.

I supported the permanent extension of the Missouri Linked Deposit Program, which guarantees farmers and small business owners continued access to the low-cost investment capital they need. More than $570 million has been lent impacting more than 9,000 jobs and farmers throughout Missouri. The low-interest loan program is fiscally responsible because the partner lending institution takes all credit risk, not Missouri taxpayers.
