U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today released the following statement after voting to pass another jobs bill aimed at making it easier for startup businesses to raise money from investors and create more jobs:
"Missouri is home to some of the most innovative, hardworking entrepreneurs in the country. This bill will cut red tape and open up more resources for them to succeed, to create more jobs, and to keep this economic recovery moving in the right direction."
The Senate approved the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act, or JOBS Act, today on a vote of 73-26. The legislation would cut red tape for small businesses, allowing them to expand.
McCaskill also supported efforts in the Senate this week to pass legislation boosting American exports in order to support manufacturing and agriculture jobs in Missouri and across the country. The bill under consideration would have reauthorized the Export-Import Bank of the United States-an agency that supports American manufacturers and producers-without adding to the national deficit. McCaskill today urged her colleagues to reconsider the legislation.
