Statement

Location: Logan, WV

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today issued the following statement after surveying the flooded areas of Logan County with the West Virginia National Guard and the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Several counties in southern West Virginia experienced heavy flooding as a result of today's storms.

"Once again, severe storms have caused major flooding in our state, causing significant devastation to both homes and businesses.

"To see our neighborhoods flooded and battered by debris is simply heartbreaking. I want to thank the local first responders, 911 centers and state emergency services, including the National Guard, for immediately uniting to help as many people as possible as quickly as possible. As floodwaters recede, we must be mindful of the forecast and remain vigilant in our efforts to stay safe.

"I will continue to do everything possible to help the flood victims recover, and I ask all West Virginians to keep them in your prayers."
