In a continuing effort to strengthen relations between the United States and Italy. U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) welcomed Gianfranco Fini, Speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, to Capitol Hill. The Chamber of Deputies is the lower House of the Italian Parliament.
"Speaker Fini is the latest member of the Italian government to be actively engaged in dialogue with members of Congress about Italy's progress toward a stronger European economy," said Pascrell, co-chair of the Italian-American Congressional Delegation. "With the third largest economy in Europe, Italy holds an important stake in the world's economic future. I am grateful for Speaker Fini's efforts in keeping clear communication with our nation. The strong bonds between our nations will help Italians and Americans achieve their greatest potential together."
Mr. Fini's visit followed Rep. Pascrell's welcoming Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti to Capitol Hill in February.
