Lamborn Statement on February 2012 Jobs Report

Statement

Date: March 9, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement on the February 2012 Jobs Report from the U.S. Department of Labor:

"This is yet another disappointing snapshot of our distressed economy. According to the government's latest numbers, 12.8 million of our fellow citizens are out of work. On top of that, another 4.4 million Americans have simply dropped out of the work force. When you include them and the people forced to work only part-time, the real Obama unemployment rate is 14.9 percent.

"In the report itself, one especially troubling phrase appears throughout: 'essentially unchanged from a year earlier.' In other words, this economy is stuck in neutral. Rising gasoline prices threaten to put the economy in reverse.

"We can and must do better. The American people want results, not excuses.

"The House has passed close to 30 bills all aimed at growing the economy and creating jobs. It's time for the Senate to put these results-oriented bills on the floor for a vote." -- Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
