Rep. Scott Tipton (R-CO) met with Colorado members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) recently during the VFW Legislative Conference visit to the Capitol. The veterans were visiting with House offices to discuss the mission of the VFW in addition to advocating on behalf of veterans issues.
Among the issues discussed, the VFW members underscored the vital role that Veteran's Affairs (VA) clinics and hospitals play in the rehabilitation and treatment of veterans who have recently returned from the ongoing war. They stressed that many VA facilities are over capacity and that waiting times to receive care can be extensive.
"We must ensure that those who have defended our country have access to quality care and rehabilitation facilities that they need," Tipton said. "I am committed to supporting pro-veterans legislation that provides the resources and programs necessary to help our men and women in uniform transition back to civilian life."
Tipton has co-sponsored H.R.575, the Healthy Vets Act, which aims to expand care for veterans in rural areas by allowing them to receive timely care at facilities that are more geographically accessible.
