U.S. Representative Daniel Webster (FL-08) issued the following statement encouraging immediate Senate action on the Jumpstart of Business Startups (JOBS) Act as February's national unemployment report was released:

"The common theme I heard on my small business and economic security tour across Central Florida is one that I've been discussing for quite some time: make small business a big priority. Today's national unemployment report confirms that we need immediate actions to speed up recovery.

"We should start by demanding the Senate act today on the JOBS Act passed yesterday by the House in a bipartisan and collaborative spirit to support small businesses, the backbone of America's economy.

"The JOBS Act removes barriers that hold back entrepreneurs and small businesses, returning to an environment that once again recognizes the endeavors and creativity that make up the American Dream. Freeing up capital, creating the confidence necessary to expand, and removing the costly regulations that hinder growth are just a few of the achievements in the JOBS Act package.

"I'm pleased that Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle were able to come together to improve our global competitiveness and increase financial confidence. It is extremely encouraging that the President has agreed to sign this package, and there is no reason why the Senate should delay getting him this critical bill today. There's much more work to be done and I hope we can continue to work together to strengthen our economy and restore financial confidence to Central Florida's businesses and families," said Representative Webster.
