Cassidy Statement on Senate Rejection of the Blunt Amendment

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement on the tabling of Senator Roy Blunt's amendment to end the unconstitutional contraception mandate.

"Today's vote to table Senator Blunt's "Respect for Rights of Conscience Act," is very disappointing. This was good legislation - it would reverse the unconstitutional contraception mandate in the President's health care law and would preserve the constitutional right of religious freedom that Americans have enjoyed for over two hundred years.

"Unfortunately, this is only one of many unconstitutional flaws in the President's health care law. House Republicans will continue to fight to reverse not only the contraception mandate but the entire health care law."
